♡ Pixie Styling Tutorial ♡

Hello hello,

So, I finally made a YouTube video!

P.S My concealer isn't that yellow in real life, I swear it...

For the curious, I use Loreal Paris Extraordinary Oil prior to hair washing. Then, I use Tresemme Naturals Nourish and Replenish shampoo and conditioner to wash the excess out. Hopefully that explains why my hair looks unrealistically shiny in the video!

Welp, that's all for now.

My Pixie Cut: History + Pros and Cons

Hello friends,

So, I finally got the proper chop…

…and it is probably one of the best hair decisions I have made ever.

You wanna know why? I’ll TELL you why.

(No, but really. Get comfortable, make a snack, and/or get a drink. This could be a long one.)

Only 4 months ago did I have 25+ inch long extensions hanging from my scalp. Now, it was fun to look like a mermaid and all, but MY GOD, the effort it took. The HEADACHES. It ended up not being such fun times, with my very expensive hair looking like a horse’s mane after only a month (not that horses aren’t majestic creatures, of course). It was time to say farewell to the long hair I had always dreamed of, but had learned to dread.
So I got the ever so trendy “lob” cut:
Dem filters..

Now that I look at it, I wouldn’t class it as short as I believed it was. But hey, my introduction to the short haired life was very gradual. I rocked this very long bob for just over a month, until the short hair bug bit me again. This time, though, I decided to actually cut shape into my hair (what? WHAT? Crazy). And so, the angled bob was born:

Stylish? Yes. Easily styled? Hell no.
So goodbye layers, hello blunt chin-length bob:

As you have already seen from my first blog post (#shamelessplug), this was relatively easy to style. But through all of these drastic (well at least for me, considering my hair history) changes to my hair, I decided that having one layer blunt hair wasn’t as good as I had decided it was. Short or not, it was always flying into my face, which was an absolute deal breaker for me. I had massive hair envy of my partner, whose hair is quiffed and it does not move all day. Like, at all. He must have sold his soul for that crap.

After a month of rigid research, YouTube tutorials, and endless Pintrest page scrolling, I decided I would take the plunge and get a pixie cut:

Wow, look at me no-ow~
Now that we have dappled in my amazing hair history, I will list some pros and cons of my new love.

PROS
1. You immediately go to the next step of adorable. No excuses, you’re cute now.

2. Depending on your hair type, it will basically style itself. I have yet to experience this “pixie bedhead” phenomenon, but my fine, naturally straight/slightly wavy hair is now being my best buddy with this style. Although, I still use products in my hair to keep it looking the most fab (tutorial coming soon~).

3.Your hair will never get all up in your business again. This means you can rock the stickiest of lip-glosses and the creamiest of lipsticks out there. Go nuts, kids!
4. Hair accessories look 1000x cuter now. That’s some legit math.

5. You will get WAY more compliments than you’re expecting. I got five on the day I got it cut alone, that’s five more than I have ever received on a normal day!

6. A pixie will really enhance your best features, and even highlight features you had never noticed before! I, for one, did not know of my splendid neck shape until it was on show.

7. **An additional pro for the spoonie ladies**: this is a VERY spoonie-friendly hairstyle. I used to aggravate my migraines by pulling at my longer hair while styling it, as well as really struggle to braid it on a very low spoons day due to chronic pain. Now I barely have to move my hair around, which saves my energy for bigger and better things.

CONS

1.Regular trips to the hairdresser will become your life. To keep your hair at its optimum pixieness, it’s recommended to go back to the salon every 4-6 weeks. However, some people do this even when they don’t have short hair, so it may not be a con for you!

2.There is a teeny tiny chance that you won’t like it. BUT, before you freak the frick out on me, there are many ways to cover up the growing out phase. Accessories, beanies, even extensions, to name a few.

3. Less styling options could be a possible con. Personally, I wore my long hair the exact same way everyday, so it’s not a big concern of mine. If you’re a person who really enjoys doing fancy updos, you may want to have a little think about your decision.

So, yeah, that’s about it.

I will be making a video on my pixie cut, as well as the styling video mentioned above, very soon!
